Sources, not one measurement
NHC supplies tropical information and NWS alerts and forecasts. Station observations and conditions from other providers have their own place and time. LUMA, AAA and shelter sources cover different services. We do not combine them to certify conditions at an address.
Retrieval, issuance and expiration
Retrieval time says when we obtained a source. Issuance belongs to the original product. Expiration describes an alert’s period. A recent retrieval does not make an old bulletin current: check both times and open the original when confirmation matters.
Updates and failures
The service attempts periodic refreshes. Providers may fail independently. When an older copy is retained, its age matters; a pending source is not interpreted as zero outages, no danger or all shelters closed.
Municipal coverage
A forecast uses a reference point or the location you authorize. A station may be outside the municipality and an alert may cover a wider zone. General data is not a sensor in your home. Mountains, coastlines and local conditions can differ within one municipality.
Shelters: listing does not mean opening
A place in the directory does not prove it is open today. Confirm opening, access, capacity and individual needs with the responsible authority before leaving. If a source does not confirm opening, the site should show that uncertainty.
AI and saved copies
Automated explanations use available evidence and should cite sources. They do not create official warnings or resolve missing information. Saved copies help offline, but their date stays fixed until you update them.
Check for yourself
The Sources page shows provenance and retrieval status. If you find a discrepancy with the original, keep the URLs and timestamps for both the site and source, and send them through the CazaHuracanes contact.
